Displaying raw courage, jawan killed intercepting terrorist who tried to flee

JAMMU: Naik Rajindra Singh died exhibiting exemplary courage when he intercepted a terrorist trying to flee the Batote encounter site in Jammu and Kashmirs Ramban district on Saturday.
“Today at about 0715 hours (7.15 am) at Km 7 of NH 244, a road opening party (ROP) of the Indian Army, on receipt of specific input, intercepted a group of three terrorists. On being challenged, the terrorists opened fire and ran towards Batote town,” the defence spokesperson in Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand, said.
The terrorists then entered a house in Batote town and took a man hostage inside. “In order to secure the safe release of the hostage, the security forces exercised the utmost restraint and even asked the terrorists to surrender.
