Trump in ‘alternate reality’, says televangelist Pat Robertson, as he advises president against 2024 run

independent– Donald Trump is living in an “alternate reality”, televangelist Pat Robertson said on Monday, as he called on the president not to run for the White House again in 2024.

Acknowledging Joe Biden’s election victory, Mr Roberston said it was time for the defeated incumbent to “move on”, adding that the “electoral college has spoken”.

His comments came as team Trump filed another desperate Supreme Court challenge to Mr Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania, a state the president-elect carried by some 80,000 votes.

The president continues to insist, without evidence, that the election was “rigged” and that Mr Biden “stole” it, despite him winning both the popular and EC vote.

Speaking to the Christian Broadcasting Network, Mr Robertson, who is considered an ally of Mr Trump, said he believed Mr Biden will be sworn in come 20 January next year.

You’ve had your day and it’s time to move on,” Mr Robertson said of the outgoing president.

He added: “I had prayed and hoped that there might be some better solution, but I don’t think  … I think it’s all over.

“I think the Biden corruption has not totally been brought to fruition, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting the electoral college, and I don’t think the Supreme Court is going to move in to do anything.”

In his interview, Mr Robertson also predicted that the vice president-elect, Kamala Harris, would take over from Mr Biden “not too long after the inauguration”, a claim repeatedly pushed by Republicans during the election campaign.

The religious preacher, who previously predicted Mr Trump would win the election and that an asteroid would hit Earth five years later, said that the defeated incumbent is living in an “alternate reality” where he believes his own lies.

“With all his talent and his ability to raise money and grow large crowds, the president still lives in an alternate reality, he really does,” said Mr Robertson, describing the president’s false claims about his inauguration crowd.

The 90-year-old was speaking as team Trump submitted another hopeless legal challenge to the election result.

Lawyers for Trump filed a petition seeking to reverse a trio of Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases having to do with mail-in ballots.

It asked the court to reject voters’ will and allow the Pennsylvania General Assembly to pick its own slate of electors.

While the prospect of the highest court in the land throwing out the results of a democratic election based on unfounded charges of voter fraud is extraordinarily unlikely, it wouldn’t change the outcome.

President-elect  Biden would still be the winner even without Pennsylvania because of the size of his EC victory.
