Lucas Torreira speaks out after failing to make Unai Emerys Arsenal starting XI again
Arsenal summer signing Lucas Torreira has no concerns over his continued absence from Unai Emerys starting XI and just wants to help the team in any way possible.
The Uruguayan, a £26m arrival from Sampdoria, was expected to slot straight into the holding midfield role in the Gunners engine room, but has been named on the bench in Arsenals first three games of the new season.
Teenager Matteo Guendouzi has started instead, but Torreira replaced the youngster against West Ham on Saturday with the scores tied and helped set up a win.
Although Torreira is itching to force his way into Emerys straight XI, he is happy to play whatever role is required of him.
Asked if his cameo in the 3-1 win over West Ham might secure him a start next time out, Torreira told the clubs official website: Lets hope so!

You train hard, you give your all and you want to improve. I want to start but any time I get on is very important for me.

For me the best thing is to be able to help my team, as I did today coming on in the second half, and we were able to get the win for our fans, who really deserve it.
Torreira is still adapting to life in the Premier League, on and off the pitch, but is happy with how he is progressing.
Im really happy, the Uruguayan said of his adaptation to the demands of English football.
Its all very new for me because Ive come from a different type of league. The climate is different here and the way of life too, but Im settling in nicely and training hard – the sessions are different too. The confidence will grow with every game, so thats great.
