Jose Mourinho names surprise Manchester United player who doesn’t make ‘childish’ mistakes
Jose Mourinho hinted some of his senior players should be learning from Manchester United youngster Scott McTominay following Saturday’s draw against Leicester.
Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were all guilty of costly misses before Harry Maguire bundled home a late equaliser, capitalising on the confusion in United’s defence which spread once Chris Smalling had been brought back moments after receiving treatment for a groin injury.
Mourinho said his side had been guilty of ‘joke’ misses and claimed some players had been making errors for too long, before suggesting McTominay, who has made only two Premier League appearances this season, was setting the example others should follow.
Mourinho on Man Utd's 'joke' misses
‘We didn’t win because we miss incredible chances, I would say joke chances.
‘And then in the last second of the game we make a big defensive mistake.
‘So it is an accumulation of mistakes in an easy match to win. And I told to the players at halftime: Easy match to win.
‘At the end no maturity there was because Smalling was in trouble, they put Maguire as an extra man.
‘The players on the pitch did not react to that and analyse and make a big adjustment so childish in their box and childish in our box.’

He said: ‘Scott McTominay still has a lot to learn. He was a kid that last year who was playing with kids, but no childish decisions at all.
‘Some other guys have childish decisions make for many years’
