Melodie Daoust and Jocelyne Lamoureux score amazing penalties as USA beat Canada in women’s ice hockey final
United States beat Canada 3-2 in a gripping penalty shootout to win gold in the women’s ice hockey.
The USA women’s hockey team had not won gold since the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and required a thrilling final to break Canada’s stranglehold.
The game ended 2-2 after overtime and players from both nations took the opportunity to shine during the penalty shootout.
Canada’s Melodie Daoust scored the pick of the penalties with a sublime finish to get the better of USA goaltender Maddie Rooney.
