Michy Batshuayi has hit back at racist trolls on social media after Borussia Dortmund’s Europa League clash against Atalanta.
Dortmund were 10 minutes away from elimination in their round-of-32 tie against the Serie A side, but Marcel Schmelzer popped up with an equaliser to keep the tie at 1-1 and 4-3 on aggregate in the Bundesliga side’s favour.
Arsenal progress to last-16 of Europa League despite Ostersunds defeat
Batshuayi, who is on loan from Chelsea after joining in January, played the full 90 minutes and made his opinion on racism apparent on his Twitter account after the game
‘2018 and still racists monkey noises in the stands,’ Batshuayi said. ‘Hope you have fun watching the rest of the Europa League on TV while we are through.’
Dortmund can now face the likes of Antoinne Griezmann’s Atletico Madrid or Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal in the next round of the competition.
The draw for the next stage of the Europa League is set for February 23.
