Tiger Woods reflects on opening round at Honda Classic: ‘It was like playing a British Open’
Tiger Woods is continuing his quest to win another Major with further preparation at this week’s Honda Classic tournament on the PGA Tour.
The 14-time Major winner shot an even-par opening-round score of 70 at the PGA National to put himself in a solid position ahead of the weekend, and described playing the 18 holes as ‘like playing a British Open’.
Sweden’s Alex Noren and fellow American Webb Simpson currently lead after day one with scores of four-under.

‘I played hard today. It was difficult out there,’ Woods said after his round. ‘I had to try and put the ball in the correct spots and there’s interesting putts out there for us.
‘Definitely it was different, like playing a British Open. You get a shot on the green and see a big puff of sand.
‘But it was tough. It was tough all the way around. I just had to grind it out all day and very happy with it.’
This is Woods’ third outing of the 2018 season. He was last in action at last week’s Genesis Open where he missed the cut.
The 42-year-old last won a Major back in 2008 when he claimed the U.S. Open for the third time in his career, and he hasn’t won a British Open since 2006.
