Chelsea have rescheduled contract talks with Thibaut Courtois in a boost for Real Madrid’s hopes of signing the Belgium goalkeeper.

The Blues are keen to tie Courtois down to a new deal with his current contract set to expire in 2019 and the club’s board are aware of interest from Real Madrid.

Courtois has repeatedly stated his desire to return to Spain – where his family reside – after spending three years with Atletico Madrid between 2011 to 2014.

Chelsea had scheduled talks with Courtois this month but the discussions have been postponed with the club keen on focusing on results at this moment in time, according to the Evening Standard.

Courtois’ camp is said to agree with the club’s decision but it provides a window of opportunity for Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have been long-term admirers of Courtois and a failure for the Belgian to sign a new deal before the summer transfer window opens will put Chelsea in a compromising position.

Madrid have an interest in Manchester United stopper David De Gea too but Courtois is deemed the easier target to prise away and he’s keen on a move back to Spain.
