Several deaths after vehicle collides with pedestrians in Germany
German police have confirmed "several" people have died in Muenster, western Germany after a vehicle collided with a group of pedestrians.
Police said three people had been killed and 20 were injured following the incident around the Kiepenkerl statue in Muenster's old town. The driver of the vehicle has killed himself, police said.
A security source told Reuters: “The scenario is such that an attack cannot be ruled out.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with the victims and their families."
Citizens have been advised to avoid the city centre.
