Betting Tips: Doitforthevillage can spring Red Rum surprise at Aintree
WHEN the entries came out for this afternoons Red Rum Chase (4.40pm), the one horse I was keen on backing was Kings Socks for the in-form David Pipe.
He travelled so well at Cheltenham before his stamina gave way and the drop back to this two-mile trip looks ideal.
However, I expected him to be a lot bigger than the 5.0 available with BETDAQ so have decided to look elsewhere as he is no good thing over this trip.
DOITFORTHEVILLAGE arrives in Liverpool off a 10lb higher mark than 12 months ago where he was badly hampered and fell four out in this very race.
He has run consistently well this season, including a win at Cheltenham in November, and wasnt disgraced off this mark in the Grand Annual at the Festival last month.
Again, he experienced a troubled passage and did well to finish sixth to Le Prezien.
With plenty of winning form in the book on both heavy and soft ground, conditions will be perfect and he looks overpriced at 14/1.
Even though conditions will be tough, it wont prevent the runners from going a decent clip and the one that may take some pegging back is topweight GINO TRAIL for Kerry Lee.
He is 8lbs higher than when sixth in this 12 months ago, but looks an improved performer.
Second off a 1lb lower mark in the Grand Annual, he again gets his ideal conditions and has been remarkably consistent this season.
Yet to finish out of the frame in six starts, he can again go well at 10.0 with Betdaq.
