Keylor Navas endured a moment to forget during Real Madrids 3-1 defeat to Juventus at the Santiago Bernabeu, dropping the ball at Blaise Matuidis feet to level the tie to 3-3 on aggregate.

Though the Costa Rican goalkeepers blushes were spared as a late Cristiano Ronaldo penalty secured their passage to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the eighth consecutive season, attention quickly turned to whether he would be replaced.

Navas has been Zinedine Zidanes first-choice goalkeeper in their last two triumphs in the competition but Real have constantly been linked with goalkeepers.

David de Gea, who narrowly missed out on a transfer to the La Liga giants back in 2015, has constantly been tipped to return to the Spanish capital and Navas awful mistake shone the spotlight firmly back onto a potential move for the Manchester United boss this summer.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was quick to stick the knife into former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand after the frantic quarter-final match, claiming that De Gea would be on the move.

But when Gerrard was poking fun at him, telling Ferdinand to get ready for De Gea to join Real Madrid, Ferdinand laughed it off and said: No hes staying there.

He doesnt need to go to Real Madrid.

Time will tell if hes right…
