Liverpool begin talks over summer deal for £87m Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes
Liverpool have begun talks over a summer deal for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.
The 23-year-old has been one of the clubs key players this season, scoring 13 goals and registering 18 assists in all competitions so far.
Fernandes has been capped four times by Portugal but his performances this term have put him firmly in contention to secure a place in Fernando Santos squad for the World Cup this summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to bolster their midfield options even further having already agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Naby Keita this summer.
According to O Jogo, Liverpool have been monitoring Fernandes progress this season and have been impressed with the midfielders performances in the Europa League.
The report claims that Liverpool officials have now met with Fernandes representatives to discuss a potential transfer to Anfield this summer.

Fernandes is in his first season at Sporting having signed in an €8.5m (£7m) deal from Sampdoria last summer.
But Liverpool could be forced to pay a significantly higher fee as the midfielder has a €100m (£87m) release clause in his deal with the Portuguese club.
