Kompany wants to create a Manchester City dynasty
Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has challenged his teammates to build on the first Premier League title of the Pep Guardiola era and create a dynasty at the Etihad Stadium.
City were gifted their third Premier League crown and fifth top-flight gong overall after rivals Manchester United suffered a shock 1-0 humbling at the hands of bottom of the table West Brom.
Guardiolas outfit have been utterly dominant this season, holding a 16-point lead over second-placed United, and have equalled the record of winning the title with five league games remaining.
“One thing he [Guardiola] has been able to transfer is that hunger and desire to never be satisfied,” said Kompany.
“I may be the only one who is already thinking about next season but Id like to stay humble about the fact its not a dynasty, its just one title that weve won.
“Its brilliant and were super happy but there is still so much work to be done before the full potential is unlocked for the whole team.
“Im happy and I suppose some of my team-mates will roll their eyes when they hear me say this but I want to see how the reaction is going to be now. Ive never been able to retain a title and I want to see whether this team can be even more successful.”
City have now won seven trophies since Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan took ownership of the club in 2008.
