Mesut Ozil pays emotional tribute to outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
Mesut Ozil has paid an emotional tribute to Arsène Wenger following the long-serving Arsenal managers decision to stand down at the end of the season.
The Gunners have embarked on a search for a new head coach for the first time in 22 years after it was confirmed on Friday that Wenger is ready to step aside.
Ozil signed a new long-term contract in February following months of speculation surrounding his own future and took to Instagram to thank Wenger for sticking by him, particularly during difficult periods of his own up and down Arsenal career.

He wrote: Passion, respect and success… that is what Arsene Wenger is all about.
Thank you for what youve done for us at Arsenal and the football world.
Im grateful for everything youve taught me and all the trust youve put in me no matter how difficult the situation was. Merci Boss!
Ozil had reportedly been scheduled to give an interview to beIN Sports earlier on Friday but was said to have called it off in light of Wengers announcement.
Instead he offered the broadcaster a short statement which read: Anyone who played for him knows his qualities.
We are proud to have had the privilege to work with him and under his guidance.
