Mohamed Salah has sent his best wishes to injured Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny.

The 25-year-old midfielder was taken off on a stretcher during Sundays 4-1 win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium following an innocuous looking challenge with Mark Noble.

Elneny landed awkwardly on his left ankle and exited the pitch with his leg in a brace. After he was assessed by Arsenal medical staff, Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves revealed they player had simply rolled his ankle.

Arsene Wenger appeared to contradict that information, however, in his post match interview by suggesting it looked a serious injury.

Its an ankle problem that is very painful, confirmed Wenger.

Overall I believe that we have to wait until the X-ray to know a little more about it. But Thursday will be too soon for him.

Both Wenger and Salah will hope the injury is a short term one with the Gunners back in action on Thursday evening in the first leg of their Europa League semi final against Atletico Madrid, while Egypt will now be sweating on the fitness of one of their star players ahead of the World Cup.
