Danny Care calls on Harlequins to make “drastic changes”

England scrum-half Danny Care insists his club side Harlequins are in desperate need of a fresh outlook and has implored the south-west London outfits new director of rugby to initiate “drastic change”.

Incumbent director of rugby John Kingston will leave his post at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign which has seen Quins register just one league win in 2018.

Quins currently languish 10th in the Premiership, level on points with second-bottom Worcester, while the wider slump has resulted in them securing a solitary top-six finish since 2014.

“We need something completely different. Its been quite similar for a while now and weve got progressively worse,” said Care. “Those are the bare facts of it. My personal opinion is we need drastic change.

“Someone needs to come in and have a real good look at it, from top to bottom, and change whatever he may change. As a person who only has a year left on his contract, that might mean Im surplus to requirements the year after.

“But the best thing for the club is that someone comes in, stamps their authority on it, and hopefully gets the club back to where it should be.”

Quins lost 44-13 to Worcester on Saturday and conclude their season with a home clash with defending champions Exeter this weekend.
