Manchester United increasingly confident of completing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic transfer
Manchester United believe they are closing in on a deal for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Jose Mourinho is keen on signing at least one midfielder this summer to replace Michael Carrick – who is set to retire – and he could be forced into a second move if Marouane Fellaini decides against signing a new deal.
United have watched Milinkovic-Savic at least a dozen times this season and believe the Serbian could be the perfect link between Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in a three-man midfield.
The Red Devils had made Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos their priority target but the German is keen to stay at the Bernabeu and that has refocused United on signing Milinkovic-Savic.
According to the Independent, United believe they are inching closer to a deal for the midfielder and Lazio are said to be resigned to him moving to Old Trafford.

The Serie A club value the midfielder at around £90m and United could have to break their club transfer record to sign the Serbia international.

United spent £140m last summer and Mourinho will be handed a similar amount plus any fees from outgoings to reinvest this time around.
The likes of Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind could raise as much as £60m in transfer fees, while Anthony Martial alone could command close to £50m.
