Thierry Henry believes Arsene Wenger deserves a special trophy for the way in which he has dealt with the pressure and the abuse he has encountered over the course of his 22-year tenure.

Wenger takes charge of Arsenal for the final time on Sunday against Huddersfield, as the Gunners aim to pick up their first Premier League point away from home in 2018, following a miserable run of seven consecutive defeats.

Henry was criticised last week when he failed to attend Wengers Emirates Stadium farewell, fulfilling his contractual obligations with Sky.

Arsenals record goalscorer has appeared to endure a slightly strained relationship with the man who revived his career and catapulted him to super-stardom, regularly criticising Wengers team in his capacity as TV pundit after failing to land a full-time coaching position at his old club.

In an emotional interview with Arsenal.com, however, Henry admitted to harbouring regrets over the way he treated Wenger during his playing days, saying: Unfortunately what you dont see is the amount of hours that he puts on the field and his office to make sure that team can perform.

I know its a cliche thing, work and sutff, but listen: I can testify because Im just starting. Its hard to be a coach.

I was a pain in the neck. Just imagine if you multiply that by the whole squad. Its what you guys dont see. Thats very difficult.

I know people will tell me he has an amazing contract. That doesnt mean hes not a human being, that doesnt mean he doesnt have feelings, that doesnt mean he doesnt go through emotion.

I went to see him doing an interview and I asked him how he was.

The bosss last game tomorrow. I just want to say thank you for everything Arsène, not just a manager but also a father figure. Please visit https://t.co/jfJVvhY3TT to see my full interview.

He went Im OK, we lost the other day and I said No, Im not talking about the game.

I said How are you?. I felt bad because as a player I never went to his office to ask him how he was because I didnt care. Nobody does care.

The fans do not care about the well-being of the coach. You dont

You go there, why didnt I play? Why am I playing on the left?

The fans Why is he playing there. The press Why this, why that?.
