Stan Wawrinka makes light work of Cameron Norrie to reach Queens round two
Stan Wawrinka made light work of Cameron Norrie to reach the second round of the Fever-Tree Championships.
The Swiss has endured a torrid year as he recovered from a knee problem, which has seen his ranking slide to world No. 261, but he looked in good nick as he thumped the British No. 2 6-2 6-3 in 56 minutes.
Grass has always been the three-time Grand Slam champions worst surface and Wimbledon is the major he is yet to get his hands on.
However, he served well on his return to the grass in 2017 and pressured the Norrie serve to claim a solid win.
He will face either Norries compatriot Jay Clarke or Americas Sam Querrey in the last-16.
For Norrie – who played practice sets with Andy Murray on Friday – it was a tough draw against the former world No. 3, but he will have been disappointed with his own display.

Norrie found himself in early spots of bother against his more experienced opponent and was forced to save five break points in the opening two games before the Swiss found a way through for a 3-1 lead.
Another break followed and Wawrinka had soon wrapped up the set after just 27 minutes.
An early break came early in the second and the Swiss soon wrapped up the victory.
Canadian hotshot Denis Shapovalov had earlier suffered a narrow defeat to grass-court specialist Gilles Muller.
Neither player managed to break during a tight match, but it was the more experienced of the pair who triumphed 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (8-6).
With the win, Muller ended a five-match losing streak, but Shapovalov has suffered three defeats on the spin after a surprise early loss in Stuttgart last week.
Luxembourgs No. 1 awaits top seed Marin Cilic or veteran Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the second round.
