Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to reject the chance to join Schalke as he wants to fight for his place at Chelsea, according to reports.

The 22-year-old excelled during his season-long loan at Crystal Palace last season and warned Chelsea in the summer that he will look to leave Stamford Bridge once again if he was unable to get regular football this term.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Schalke are interested in signing Loftus-Cheek on loan as the Bundesliga club want to bolster their midfield options.

But Loftus-Cheek has decided to stay at Chelsea and is intent on convincing Maurizio Sarri that he deserves a place in his midfield trio.

Loftus-Cheeks chances of getting more minutes on the pitch has also increased as Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of joining AC Milan on loan.
