Newcastle winger Kenedy suffered a nightmare day at the office during Newcastles goalless draw against newly promoted Cardiff City.

The former Chelsea stars performances played a significant role in preserving his sides top flight status last season and most Newcastle fans were delighted when his move was made permanent earlier this summer.

After a quiet display against Tottenham last weekend, the Brazilian was in the thick of the action on Saturday but for all the wrong reasons.

The 22-year-old was fortunate to escape punishment after Craig Pawson failed him aiming a kick at Victor Camarasa, which Jamie Carragher branded an obvious red card offence.

He told Sky Sports: I cant see how the referee hasnt seen it. I think he knows something has happened but he has missed it. He should have been sent off.

Things hardly got better for the Newcastle midfielder, who suffered the ignominy of becoming the first player since Nikola Kalinic in 2010 to complete a half of football without registering a single successful pass.

Still, Kenedy had the opportunity to redeem himself deep in stoppage time but his weak effort from the penalty spot was comfortably saved by Neil Etheridge, triggering a social media backlash…
