Manchester United have turned into Arsene Wengers Arsenal, says Ian Wright

Ian Wright believes Jose Mourinhos Manchester United are beginning to resemble Arsenal in Arsene Wengers final days at the club.

United have failed to win the Premier League title since Sir Alex Fergusons departure back in 2013 and, despite Mourinho spending £392million in only two years at Old Trafford, the Red Devils still look some distance from Manchester City.

The season began with a 2-1 victory at home to Leicester before United suffered one of their worst losses under Mourinho in a 3-2 defeat to Brighton at Falmer Stadium.

Wright believes Mourinho is facing an uphill battle at United and the Arsenal icon is being reminded of Wengers struggles before he stepped down from his position in north London.

The saddest thing of all when I look at United under Jose Mourinho? As much as I respect him as a manager, I cant see any way it is going to turn around, Wright wrote in his column for The Sun.

We all know about Jose and his third-year syndrome. But, listening to him talk, its as though even he has accepted it himself.

It has me screaming: “Come on, man. Youll go down as one of the greats, but the way youre acting will tarnish everything youve done.”

In many ways its like the last days of Arsene Wenger. People were watching Arsenal because it was car-crash football. United are fast turning into the same.

Lee Sharpe predicted that Mourinho could be sacked before Christmas unless Uniteds results dramatically change.

I am expecting the manager to get sacked before Christmas, the former United winger told Sky Sports.

If he is going to continue with this dourness and this moaning, then people will turn around and say this attitude is not getting us to the top so we need to change it.

It just seems same old same old. As much as the press and fans have been on Jose Mourinhos case about the negativity over the past few seasons and him moaning about players he has and has not got, he just seems to ignore everybody and carry on as usual.

He needs to change but he just seems to be too stubborn to alter his approach.
