Tyson Fury asked whether he should take out opponent Franceso Pianeta in the 10th round of their heavyweight contest before being told otherwise by his trainer.

The Briton claimed a unanimous points win over the Italian to book a clash with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder in either November or December.

In just his second fight in the three years since beating Wladimir Klitschko to become the heavyweight champion, Fury boxed the full 10 rounds as his comeback from virtual retirement continues.

Fans at Windsor Park expecting an explosive display from the Gypsy King were left disappointed, but Fury wanted to produce an emphatic finish to the bout in the closing stages.

Prior to the start of the final round he asked trainer Ben Davison shall I take him out now? Shall I take him out?

However Davison, who has only been working with the ex-WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion since the start of the year, ordered his fighter to resist.

The details of the exchange emerged after Davison posted the footage via his Twitter account alongside the script of their pre-round conversation.

Responding to questions on Twitter from fans seeking an explanation as to why Fury was not allowed to unleash on his opponent, he responded that he wanted to test Furys discipline.

Heavyweight boxing there is always a risk, but this was simply because I wanted to test Tysons discipline boxing to orders, he added.

Discipline at this level is more important than one more showreel KO for the highlights. [sic]

More: Anthony Joshua

The concluding comment could be interpreted as a slight dig at Anthony Joshua, who has been continually criticised by the Fury camp for having more style than substance after his 20 knock-outs in his 21 fights.

Wilder was sitting ringside for the fight in Belfast and entered the ring at the conclusion as promoter Frank Warren confirmed that both men would meet in the final two months of the year.

IBF, WBO and WBA champion Joshua and Wilder had been in talks for many months regarding a heavyweight unification fight but the Olympic champion will instead face Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium in September.
