Manuel Pellegrini sends message to West Ham fans after Bournemouth walkout
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has called on West Ham fans to trust in his methods after appearing to critisize a section of his own support following last weekends defeat at home against Bournemouth.
After a 4-0 opening weekend defeat at Liverpool, the Hammers threw away the lead against Eddie Howes side and go in search of their first point of the season against Arsenal on Saturday.
The stadium was empty with 10 minutes to go, we can still score in that time. They need to believe but if you dont have results it is more difficult for them, said the former Manchester City manager last Saturday.
Attempting to clarify those comments ahead of their trip to the Emirates, he said: Its not a criticism of the fans.
Its more that I think the team really needs the fans. If we are losing 5-1 or 4-1 in the last few minutes, you can leave early, but we were losing 2-1 and we all need the fans – the team, the owners, the manager, the fans – to help us get the result we want.

Just to clarify, I feel the fans are very important to us.
While his new side were comprehensively outplayed at Anfield, there were some green shoots of recovery against Bournemouth before the concession of two goals midway through the second half.
Im always disappointed when we dont win, he added. Maybe in the first games we played against a big team, Liverpool away . I dont think the result we had was what we deserved.
The second game we improved a lot, our team play in the first 45 minutes was the way I wanted to do it but in the second half, when we conceded we had a lot of fear that we were going to lose the game.
