Ray Parlour fires warning to Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka

Ray Parlour has warned Granit Xhaka he must knuckle down or face the prospect of being discarded by Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

The Switzerland international has flattered to deceive following his £35million move from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2016 and appears to be facing an uncertain future under Arsene Wengers successor.

Xhaka was named as one of Emerys five captains ahead of the new season but he was hauled off at half time during last weekends defeat at Chelsea, replaced by headline summer recruit Lucas Torreira.

With fellow new-boy, Matteo Guendouzi, also impressing at the heart of Arsenals engine room, Arsenal Invincible Parlour feels its now or never for Xhaka.

Xhaka looked to have a good World Cup, so its hard to say whats wrong with him now, said Parlour.

He looks like a guy who takes a bit of time to get back into the rhythm of playing week in, week out after a break, especially with the new manager.

But there are players breathing down his neck. If he doesnt do his job, he wont be in the team.

The form players deserve to play. He has to knuckle down and he has to play well.
