Manchester United will have to pay £110million for Ruben Neves if they want to lure the Wolves star to Old Trafford, reports say.
Metro.co.uk revealed this month United were ready to accelerate their pursuit of Neves, should Manchester City submit an offer for the midfielder.
But the task of bringing Neves to Manchester just became much more difficult, as Wolves moved to ward off suitors with a daunting asking price.

The Times claim Wolves have slapped a £110m transfer fee on Neves, just 14 months after paying Porto £16m for his services.
Neves is wanted by United and City and continued his run of impressive form at Old Trafford over the weekend.

The 21-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho by Pep Guardiola, while Jose Mourinho has been tracking Neves for several years, and shares an agent with the player.

United though would need to break their transfer record to land Neves.
The Red Devils spent £89m bringing Paul Pogba back to United and are unlikely to launch any major offer for Neves in January, unless City make a bid.
Neves played in the 1-1 draw against United, and received praise from Mourinho after helping his side to a valuable point.
And the Portugal international responded to Mourinhos glowing assessment of him and his team-mate Joao Moutinho.
We want to play every game like it the last game of our lives, he said.
Its our job. You cant think about what youre going to do in the future until youve done things in the present. We always want to play good football and play like its the last game of our lives.

He added: We cant think about the opponent all the time. If we do things right its easier for us. Were never going to be afraid to play our football.
They are not superheros. They are players and if we do things well we can make it difficult for other teams.
