Arsene Wenger sends message to Aaron Ramsey over Arsenal contract snub

Arsene Wenger has told Aaron Ramsey hes in a strong position at Arsenal despite the club withdrawing a contract offer to the midfielder.

The Welshmans represenattives had been locked in talks with the Gunners for a number of months over a new deal at the Emirates.

Ramseys current deal expires at the end of the season and the 27-year-old had been keen to extend his 10-year stay with the Gunners.

However, with both parties feeling as if they were close to an agreement, Arsenal made the shock decision to withdraw their offer to Ramsey.

Mesut Ozil successfully used Alexis Sanchezs departure to Manchester United to extract a record deal from Arsenal last February and Wenger believes his former midfielder is in a similarly strong position.

Asked if he would give Ramsey a new deal in the circumstances, Wenger replied: We tried that before and it still can happen.

I dont really know whats happening at Arsenal. Sure, Aaron Ramsey is in a strong position now and he will use this position.

But I dont know how far Arsenal will go in terms of giving him a huge contract. These things were once my responsibility, but not anymore. Im happy about that.
