Jose Mourinho has backed Chelsea to win the Premier League as long as Eden Hazard keeps up his sensational early-season form.

Hazard has scored seven goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season with Maurizio Sarris side sitting at the top of the table, level on points with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have had a dismal opening, winning only four matches in the English top flight and Mourinho is under intense pressure ahead of the sides trip to Stamford Bridge.

While Mourinho believes United are in trouble if they focus purely on Hazard, he is confident that the Belgian can lead Chelsea to glory if he keeps firing.

Asked about Chelseas impressive start, Mourinho replied: The results speak for themselves. Obviously they are not playing in the Champions League.

That puts them just in the Premier League, and in the Premier League the results speak for themselves. Very good results, top of the league and of course lots of good players.

Hazard won the Premier League in 2014/15 and 2016/17 under Mourinho and Antonio Conte respectively and the Belgians former manager believes he can lead Chelsea to the trophy once again.

History says that when Eden Hazard is the best player in the Premier League, Chelsea are the champions, Mourinho continued.

It happened with me and Antonio and this season – it is still the beginning of course.

But if he is the best player in the Premier League until now, which he is, Chelsea is top of the league because he is the kind of player who can make a huge difference.
