Why Alexis Sanchez misses Manchester Uniteds Champions League clash with Juventus
Alexis Sanchez is missing from Manchester Uniteds squad for Tuesdays Champions League clash with Juventus after reporting back from international duty with an injury.
The Chilean came off the bench late on in the Red Devils dramatic draw with Chelsea on Saturday, though Jose Mourinho confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Sanchez would play no part against Juve – though did not initially disclose the reason.
The players you saw at training are the players available. Sanchez is not available, confirmed the Portuguese coach.
But now Fox Sports Latin America report that the reason for Sanchezs absence is down to a pulled groin muscle that he tweaked while on international duty with Chile.
Although Sanchez was included in the matchday squad against Chelsea, he felt discomfort, and it hurt even more when he tried to run on Monday.
Interestingly, Sanchezs agent, Fernando Felicevich, retweeted the reason for Sanchezs absence on his Twitter account.

With the 29-year-old sidelined, Anthony Martial – fresh from scoring twice against Chelsea, as well as netting against Newcastle – lines up on the left wing against Juve.
Sanchezs latest injury setback comes at a time when he is believed to be growing unhappy at Old Trafford.
Recent reports claim he is bemused by the increasing lack of game time afforded to him by Mourinho, as well as the sides negative approach, and has asked Felicevich to begin working on an escape route.
