Chelsea are plotting a £35million raid on Bournemouth for Cherries striker Callum Wilson, reports say.

The Blues have been scouting several forwards ahead of the January transfer window, and Wilson has stood out among the other candidates.

Wilson has scored seven goals in 13 appearances this season, as well as chipping in with five assists, and Maurizio Sarri thinks the Englishman would be ready made to fit seamlessly into his squad.

Sarri has helped Alvaro Morata rediscover his scoring touch after a dismal debut season at Chelsea, but the Italian still wants another centre-forward in January.

And the Scottish Sun now claim Chelsea are prepared to pay £35m to prize Wilson away from Bournemouth.

Wilsons excellent club form was rewarded this week when he earned his first call-up to the England team.

Gareth Southgate continued his trend of welcoming young, fresh faces into his squad and selected Wilson for upcoming games against United States and Croatia.

Callum is a striker weve worked with briefly in the under-21s, so we know plenty about him, Southgate said.

Hes a threat in behind and has contributed both goals and assists this season.

Its a good opportunity for us to have a look at him in training and to see how he fits in to what we do. Itll also be good for him to get a feel of working with the rest of the team.

I think part of being a footballer is showing the resilience to come back from injuries and rejection.

Callum has had that with injury, but hes got back to a really good level and has been a key part to Bournemouths season so far. He has earned the right to a call up.

Bournemouth have started season well. Theyre a team who have had some fantastic performance over the last couple of seasons.

Chelsea fans were hoping for a big name striker to come in this January, with the Blues linked with Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi and Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek.

But Inter want £90m for Icardi, while Piatek only signed for Genoa in the summer and is unavailable in January.
