Eoin Morgan insists exciting Jofra Archer will be considered for England selection in the new year.

Sussex fast bowler Archer was born in Barbados but will be eligible to play for England in March under new ECB rules.

The 23-year-old has impressed in a number of franchise tournaments across the world, securing big-money contracts in the Indian Premier League and Big Bash.

Archer wants to play for England and could yet feature in next summers Cricket World Cup and Ashes series.

England one-day captain Morgan said: Jofra is in demand all around the world, particularly in Twenty20 cricket. One of the most exciting things about him is that he is still very young.

Hes travelled all around the world, played Big Bash, Indian Premier League and been at Sussex for a number of years now.

People talk about him playing international cricket at some stage and I think that is a fair, honest assessment of the talent that he possesses.

He needs to spend more days in the country before he is available for selection.

When that happens, well cross that bridge and look at all aspects of selection – how everybody could benefit the team.

We have recently selected the squad for the West Indies tour and it still looks really exciting.

England have won nine successive one-day series since being dumped out of the last World Cup at the group stage and Morgans side are favourites to lift the trophy next summer.

On Englands tag as favourites, Morgan added: Weve found ourselves the worlds No 1 ranked team since the start of our summer and it has sat fine with us. It hasnt affected us.

The likelihood is that we will go into the World Cup as favourites, provided something significant doesnt happen before then.

But we are building the squad quite nicely and the guys have shown a huge amount of desire to improve their game and win matches. So its an exciting summer ahead for us.
