Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a dig at Jose Mourinho by insisting a Manchester United side should never be outworked after the Red Devils 5-1 win against Cardiff City.
United put in their best performance of the season to ensure the Norwegians first game in charge ended with an empthatic win in Wales.
The display was a return to the swashbuckling attacking football of Sir Alex Fergusons era and United were markedly more energetic all over the pitch.
The statistics back that view up with official recordings showing United outran their opponents for the first time this season.
Mourinhos tenure soured during his third campaign at Old Trafford and the fact that his side had been outrun on every occasion this season indicated that he had lost the dressing room.

And, after a dream start to his caretaker role, Solskjaer took a dig at Mourinhos time at the club by insisting a United side should never be outrun.
A Manchester United team should never be outworked, you should run more than them, said Solskjaer in his post-match press conference.
Uniteds victory was the first time since Sir Alex Fergusons final game in charge that the club had scored five in a Premier League match.

Wayne Rooney was BT Sports guest in the studio for the game and the 33-year-old believes Mourinho would have sat back and defended Uniteds one-goal lead in Wales.
I think the difference with Mourinho is that he gets one goal up and he likes to hold onto the result [but] now theyre trying to go up [and score more], Rooney told BT Sport.
