Dimitar Berbatov explains why Paul Pogba annoyed him during Man Utd training

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that a young Paul Pogba used to get on his nerves in training as he always used to tackle him.

Pogba joined United as a 16-year-old from French club Le Havre in 2009 and after spending two seasons with the academy side he stepped up to the first-team during the 2011-12 campaign.

Although he only played seven times under Sir Alex Ferguson that season including three games in the Premier League, Pogba clearly made an impression on his more experienced teammates.

And Berbatov, who like Pogba left United at the end of that season, admitted that the Frenchman caused a stir as soon as he was promoted to train with the first-team.

In his Betfair column, Berbatov said: I remember Paul coming to play with the first team, training with us. He was just enjoying being in Manchester and was good friends with the first team and when youre happy youre settled.

He caused a stir in training straight away. He was tall, athletic, would get the ball from me, intercept it and get on my nerves. I knew I had to take this guy seriously because he had something.

You could see from the beginning that he had technical ability, vision of the game, where to position himself and now you can see the result – he is one of the best in the world.
