Maurizio Sarri admits Callum Hudson-Odoi struggled for England before Chelsea star switched positions
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits he only watched Callum Hudson-Odoi for 20 minutes during the international break and claims the 18-year-old struggled to impress on Englands right wing but improved once he had switched to the opposite flank.
Hudson-Odoi was given a 20-minute cameo for his senior debut as he came on as a second-half substitute in Englands 5-0 win over Czech Republic last Friday.
The 18-year-old was then given his first senior start as England ran out 5-1 winners over Montenegro on Monday evening.
Hudson-Odoi was one of Englands star performers in the 5-1 victory but Sarri has pointed out that the winger made a drastic improvement once Gareth Southgate played him in his favoured role on the left.
Asked if he watched Hudson-Odoi in action for England, Sarri said: No, only 20 minutes because I had 14 players in the national teams and had no time to watch 20 matches.
I watched England only for 20, 25 minutes.

Callum didnt start very well in the first 20 minutes on the right.
He did very well on the left immediately in the first action on the left.
But I know him very well and I know he prefers to play on the left.
Sarri has also insisted that Hudson-Odoi is in line to be given first Premier League start of the season in the next few weeks due to Chelseas congested fixture schedule.
We have to play eight matches in 28 days, and so I am sure that Callum will start in two or three matches, said the Chelsea manager.
Its not a problem for me to put him in the starting XI in a Premier League match. Hes ready. But of course I can play with only two wingers.
