No role for any third party: India on Trump’s new Kashmir comments
NEW DELHI: India on Thursday reiterated that there is no role for any third party on the Kashmir issue amid reports that US President Donald Trump has again offered to "help" India and Pakistan resolve the lingering dispute.
Responding to a question on Trump purportedly raising the Kashmir issue during his talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "Our position on the Kashmir issue and third party mediation has been very clear and consistent. Let me reiterate that there is no role for any third party in this matter."
He said that such issues must be resolved bilaterally and the onus is on Pakistan to create an atmosphere free of terror and violence to facilitate such discussions.
