NEW DELHI: The railways will start issuing limited waitlisted tickets from May 15 for the AC special trains being run between Delhi and 15 cities even as the government is working on plans to run more trains in the near future as part of its strategy to restore passenger services gradually, sources said. The waitlisted tickets will be issued for travel dates starting from May 22 onwards on these trains.
“Waitlisted tickets will be issued from May 15. But only those with confirmed status till the chart is prepared will be allowed to travel,” said a railway ministry official.
Sources said there will be full refund if a passenger is not allowed to board due to Covid-19 symptoms.
Meanwhile, Rail Bhavan was sealed for two days till Friday for sanitisation after a clerk tested positive.
Justifying the decision to issue waitlisted tickets for the special trains, a ministry official said there were instances of some passengers cancelling tickets at the last moment.
