A clinical Callum Johnson stopped Frank Buglioni to pick up the British light heavyweight belt and the biggest win of his career at the O2 Arena in London.

The all-British clash was the main supporter to the main event of Dillian Whyte vs Lucas Browne. Buglioni had the crowd’s backing, but was in trouble early in the second round.

Johnson and Buglioni traded big shots, before a left hook rocked the defending champion and sent him to the canvas.

Buglioni beat the count, but he was swarmed by Johnson and ate several more painful hooks to the head.

As Buglioni staggered backwards, the referee jumped in to stop the fight. Victor Loughlin’s decision infuriated Buglioni, who protested by shoving the referee.

The victory firmly announces Johnson on the light heavyweight stage and he adds the British title to the Commonwealth strap already in his possession.

Buglioni had no complaints about the stoppage after the fight, while Johnson paid tribute to his late father in his post-bout interview.

He said: ‘I’m going to keep proving my Dad right and the doubters wrong. Here’s to you mate. My power, I can knock anyone out.

‘I’ve had some hard times, ups and downs. Sometimes the journey makes the destination better.’

Dereck Chisora got back to winning ways by smashing through Zakaria Azzouzi inside two rounds.

The British heavyweight was coming off a damaging loss against Agit Kabayel last summer and was in need of a convincing performance.

Chisora bloodied his French opponent’s nose in the first and second thanks to some painful uppercuts, and then finished the job with a crunching right hand that landed straight on the temple of Azzouzi.

Despite the entertaining knockout, it was Chisora’s post-fight antics that was his star performance.

Chisora called David Haye and possible future opponent Joe Joyce to join him ringside and tried to goad his old rival into an insane bet.

The veteran agreed to fight Joyce on May 5, if Haye would agree to bet his entire fight purse for fighting Tony Bellew on his prospect beating Chisora.

Not surprisingly, Haye said no.

Anthony Fowler moved to 5-0 in his pro career with an impressive outing against Kalilou Dembele. The super-welterweight picked his shots, moving from the head to the body, and eventually put Dembele down in the fifth.

The referee stopped the fight, much to the crowd’s disappointment as Dembele had managed to beat the count.

Lewis Ritson defended his British lightweight belt and moved to 15-0 in a cracking encounter with Scott Cardle.

The undefeated Newcastle fighter weathered a storm in the opening three minutes as Cardle attempted to catch him cold.

But, Ritson saw off the onslaught with some good defence and footwork and then took control in the second round.

Cardle was then caught with some heavy hooks and body shots, but beat the count when the referee briefly stopped the contest.

Cardle needed rescuing though moments later. The referee stopped it, but not before the white towel was thrown in the ring and a tooth came flying from Carlde’s mouth.

Louis Lynn opened the proceedings at the O2 Arena by cruising by Michael Horobin on his pro debut with a second round stoppage.

It was then cruiserweight Richard Riakporhe’s turn to impress, but the unbeaten prospect was dropped in the first round by a cute Adam Williams.

Riakporhe recovered though and returned the favour in the third round, to move to 6-0 in his career.
