Andy Murray to make tennis return two weeks before Wimbledon at Libema Open

Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will make his firs competitive outing for nearly a year at the Libema Open in Holland this June.

Murray said the grass court tournament in Rosmalen, which takes place from 11-17 June, will be "the perfect way for me to prepare for Wimbledon".

It will be the 30-year-old's first event since he underwent surgery to tackle an ongoing hip problem in January.

The former world No1, who has not played since he was knocked out of Wimbledon in the quarter-finals last year, has slipped to No29 in the world.

"I am looking forward to getting back on the grass and to play in Rosmalen for the first time," said Murray.

"I've heard lots of good things about the tournament and the courts are meant to be very good – it's the perfect way for me to prepare for Wimbledon."

Wimbledon starts two weeks after the Libema Open concludes. Its tournament director Marcel Hunze said Murray's presence was a "great reward" following heavy investment "in the quality of the tournament and the grass courts".
