McGregor was attempting to confront lightweight rival and the new undisputed champion Khabib Nurmagomedov before attacking the bus.

Nurmagomedov had cornered and appeared to slap McGregors team-mate, Artem Lobov, earlier in the week and the incident seems to have been payback for the Russian threatening Lobov.

McGregor has returned to Ireland after being granted permission to leave the US, but must return for the hearing in June.

Statement from McGregor's manager Audie Attar

So much rumour and misinformation about my client, Conor McGregor. The matter is in the hands of law enforcement and I cannot really say more. Conor is a great father, a fiercely loyal friend, and one of the best athletes in the world. He looks forward to get back to fighting as soon as possible.
