Amir Khan has revealed he knew when he stared at Phil Lo Greco moments before their fight that he would stop the Canadian.

Lo Greco was finished inside 39 seconds as Khan made a superb return to boxing after two years out of action.

Khan was forced to take on a new trainer before his comeback after his long-time coach Virgil Hunter fell ill in March.

Joe Goosen stepped in and Khan revealed his coach insisted he had to stare at Lo Greco the second he stepped through the ropes.

Khan acknowledged the eye contact was slightly awkward, but admitted it was then that he knew Lo Greco was beaten.

Joes very good at keeping me focused. In the ring he never wanted me to take my eye off my opponent, Lo Greco. Even I was feeling uncomfortable out there, Khan explained.

I was thinking hes not looking back and me and I wanted him to. I was thinking what do I do here? He was looking at me when I came out, but he stopped.

Thats when I saw in his eyes the fight was lost. When Im looking at him. He stared at me for a couple of seconds and stopped. Would not look at me up at me.

Thats when I thought “Hes done now”.
