Boris Becker has hit the headlines today, after claiming that he has diplomatic immunity against an attempt to sue him.

Becker was declared bankrupt in 2017 over money owed to private bank Arbuthnot Latham, and is now being pursued for further assets.

However, the tennis legend is claiming diplomatic immunity due to the fact he was appointed earlier this year as an Attache for the Central African Republic.

Boris Becker was born on 22 November 1967, making him 50 years old.

His success in tennis began early on in his career, with Becker becoming the first German to win Wimbledon aged 17 in 1985.

Over his 15 year career, he has won 64 ATP Tour titles, and claimed the top spot at Wimbledon two more times.

After he retired, he became a respected sports commentator for the BBC.

He has also coached tennis, most notably Novak Djokovic between 2014 and 2016.

In 2017, Becker was declared bankrupt in the UK, due to an undisclosed amount of debt to Arbuthnot Latham.

His lawyers stated hed be able to pay them back by remortgaging his holiday home in Mallorca to raise £5.26million.

However, the registrar said, One has the impression of a man with his head in the sand.

Becker is now arguing that he is immune from further legal action as he is a diplomat.

In the past, it was reported that Becker may have been worth around £160million – money earned+ from match winnings and sponsorship deals.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, that figure is now under £8million.

When he divorced from his first wife Barbara Feltus in 2000 (who he has two sons – Noah Gabriel and Elias Balthasar with), the divorce settlement cost him $14.4 million, his condominium, and custody of Noah and Elias.

It was later announced that the prenuptual agreement signed by the couple was voided due to the fact Becker admitted to fathering another womans child while Barbara was pregnant withg Elias in 1999.

The mother was Russian model Angela Ermakova, and his daughter with her is named Anna. Boris had to pay a multi-million pound settlement as part of her child support.

In 2009, Boris married model Lilly Kerssenberg, and later that year had a son – Amadeus Benedict Edley Luis Becker. The couple announced their split this year.

As well as having to pay out large amounts for his family, the tennis stars money troubles may also come from unsuccessful Nigerian oil investments, according to the German press.

A large amount of his trophies and medals have gone on sale recently, in what seems to be a bid to pay off the debt.
