Jose Mourinho has been warned by Manchester Uniteds owners to stop publicly criticising the club over fears that the Red Devils worldwide reputation is being damaged.

Mourinho took a swipe at the clubs transfer policy following Uniteds 1-0 defeat to Juventus by suggesting he hasnt been backed in the transfer market in a fashion he had been promised.

The 55-year-olds also dug out the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Paul Pogba and Antonio Valencia so far this season, whilst constantly questioning the attitude of his squad as a whole.

Mourinho has, in an effort to win round the dressing room, stopped his public criticisms of individual players in recent weeks but the Glazer family are not happy with his conduct, report the Sun.

They feel he is too confrontational and is negatively affecting the clubs image around the world, which has taken a battering since Sir Alex Fergusons retirement in 2013.

The Glazers are said to be worried about the disintegration of Mourinhos relationship with club legend Paul Scholes.

Scholes has heavily criticised the club in recent weeks and, while Mourinho hasnt responded directly to the former midfielder, hes made a series of jibes back at Scholes.

The club feel supporters will be pushed into a scenario where theyll have to choose between Mourinho and members of the Class of 92.

Thats dangerous territory for the Glazers, who noted the anger of United supporters towards the board during the clubs 3-2 win against Newcastle earlier this month.
