Tottenham star Harry Kane remains confident of winning the Golden Boot despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangs barnstorming start to the season for Arsenal.

Kane trails Aubameyang by one goal in the Premier League and is all too aware of the challenge he faces in regaining the trophy he lost to Liverpools Mohamed Salah last term.

Aubameyang signaled his intent with a brace in Arsenals 4-2 victory over Spurs and Kane hit back with his sides opener in a 3-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday evening.

While Kane admits that Aubameyang poses a major threat in his bid for the Golden Boot, the England and Spurs forward takes inspiration from the form of his rivals.

Asked about Aubameyangs strong start to the campaign, Kane replied: Since Ive been in the Premier League it has had some of the best strikers in the world. Aubameyang is at the top end at the moment.

Theres quite a few on eight or nine goals so its important for me to carry on doing what Im doing. Theres still a lot of the season to go, but Im happy with where I am.

When youve done it on the biggest stage of them all, the World Cup, you can look back and gain confidence from that.

If youre going through a spell where youre not scoring, a couple of games here and there, you know you can do it at the highest level.

Look, you guys know what Im like now. I know what I can achieve and Ill work as hard as I can to keep reaching goals and reaching more.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery backed Aubameyang to be in the running for the Golden Boot after his heroics in the north London derby.

I want him to continue improving, and his challenge is also collective and individual, Emery said.

I want his challenge to be that he has the opportunity to be the best scorer in the Premier League.

We want to help him achieve this and that is because, if he is scoring, he is helping us.
