Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed he supported Arsenal when he was growing up.

The France international, who joined United in 2016 for a then-world record transfer fee of £89.3million, will line up against the Gunners on Saturday when United travel to the Emirates.

Winning three consecutive games, United are second in the Premier League table – eight points behind leaders Manchester City – while Arsenal are fourth.

Ahead of the much-anticipated Premier League clash, Pogba told Football Focus: ‘In France, they [Arsenal] were very big – they had a lot of French players.

‘I was a big fan of Arsenal, Thierry Henry, I was watching him. I was a little fan, not a crazy fan, but I was watching a lot of Arsenal games. They have always been a great club.’

Arsene Wenger’s side are in decent form but will take on United without France striker Alexandre Lacazette after he suffered a suspected groin injury in Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Lacazette has scored seven goals for the Gunners since signing from Lyon in the summer and Pogba admits his absence will be a boost for United.

‘Alex has been great and at this moment he is scoring goals and playing well for the team,’ Pogba told MUTV.

‘He is a big player for them and if he is not there I would say it is good for us. I hope for us that he doesn’t play because that will help us, but I also hope he doesn’t have a bad injury.’
