Liverpool in race with Bayern Munich to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner

Liverpool are in contention to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to reports in Germany.
Earlier this week, the 22-year-old dropped a major hint that he could be moving clubs this summer and suggested Bayern Munich could be a potential destination.
Ive had a nice two and a half years at Leipzig, so they are in the picture [for next season], Werner said after Leipzigs defeat to Bayern on Wednesday evening.
There are other clubs in the picture. If you play in Germany and want to stay in Germany, there is only one club in question.
But according to Abendzeitung, Liverpool are a serious competitor alongside Bayern in the race for Werner.

The report claims that discussions have been held at Liverpool about potentially signing Werner, while the German striker has been scouted by Jurgen Klopps side on several occasions.

Werner, who has scored 13 goals in 19 appearances this season, will have only a year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, which means Leipzig could decide to cash in if he fails to agree a new deal.

Earlier this year, Werner admitted that he is keen to play in the Premier League and said he would welcome the chance to join Manchester United.
Yes, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs, he told FourFourTwo magazine.
But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better.
