Angel Gomes has revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer instructed him to play with freedom before he came on as a substitute in Manchester Uniteds 3-1 win over Huddersfield.
The 18-year-old, who was restricted to only two appearances in two seasons under Jose Mourinho, replaced Juan Mata in the 81st minute to a rapturous reception from United fans at Old Trafford.
United finished the match with four academy graduates in attack – Gomes, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford – and Solskjaer is already proving that hes ready to give youth a chance.
One of those academy products, Pogba, stole the headlines with a magnificent second-half brace but it was also an afternoon to remember for Gomes.

He said to come inside and get on the ball and get as many touches as you can and enjoy the atmosphere and I tried to do that coming on and it was a great experience.

On his future at United, Gomes replied: Of course its just the start.
It was good me and Jimmy travelled last game too, so to travel again and to get some minutes was an added bonus.
I think United is about bringing youth through and I think with the new manager and how things are going its there for the taking really.
